“You keep track of all my sorrows. You
have collected all my tears in Your bottle.
You have recorded each one in Your book.”
Psalm 56:8
“God sees me,” is the sweet solace of the
true believer. “He knows the way that I take,”
will make that rugged way seem smooth.
If perils and distress so shake the heart that
plenteous tears give evidence of suffering,
these tears are marked on high, and tender
compassion will wipe them all away.
The day has not yet come when there shall be
no more tears. But the day is always present
when they awaken sympathy in the Redeemer’s
breast. He who wept on earth will soon wipe
all tears away!
“And God will wipe away every tear from their
eyes.” Rev. 21:4
It is love alone which can reach the mourning heart.
Love is the only handkerchief which can wipe the
mourner’s tears away.
Do you know, O saint, how much the He loves you?
Can you measure the love of the Spirit.
Do you know how great is the affection of his soul
towards you?
Go, measure heaven with your span;
weigh the mountains in the scales;
take the ocean’s water, and calculate each drop;
count the sand upon the sea’s wide shore,
and when you have accomplished this,
you can tell how much he loves you.
He has loved you long, he has loved you well;
he loved you ever and he still shall love you.
Surely he is the person to comfort you, because he loves.
Admit him, then, to your heart, O Christian,
that he may comfort you in your distress.
