God rules and overrules

The word “chance” should be forever banished from the Christian’s conversation.

Because Luck or chance is a base heathenish invention!

Therefore God rules and overrules all things, and He dGod rules and overrulesoes nothing without a motive.

The falling of a sparrow to the earth is in the divine purpose and answers an end.

Every grain of dust that is whirled from the threshing-floor, is steered by God with as unerring wisdom as the stars in their courses!

There is not a leaf that trembles in the autumn from the tree but is piloted by the plan and purpose of the Lord.

Therefore The insatiable archer of death is not permitted to shoot his bolts at random.

Every arrow that flies bears this inscription, “I have a message from God for you!”

A purpose, consistent with the love and justice of God, lies hidden in the harvest of death.

“In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will!” Ephesians 1:11
Because God rules and overrules!

(Archibald Brown, “This God Our God!”)

There are two passages in the Scripture that ought never to be separated.

One is, “The Lord’s portion is His people.” Deuteronomy 32:9

And the other passage is this, “The Lord is my portion, says my soul.” Lamentations 3:24

God and my soul possess each other.
He finds His portion in His people — and His people find their portion in God.

Therefore God is the portion of His people forever!
This God is mine, in all His glorious perfection.
Because His heart is mine, for He loves me.
And His ear is mine, for I may pour into it all my tales of sorrow and all my songs of joy.
His eyes are mine, for they watch me from morning until night.
Therefore His hand is mine, for it is stretched out to uphold me.

Oh, He is a God of infinite glory. Abased in the very dust, and half bewildered by the thought, I yet dare to look up, and say, “This God is my God forever and ever. He will be my guide even unto death!” Psalm 48:14
