(Octavius Winslow) ( (You will find it helpful to Listen to the Audio)
Are you going through a sorrowful affliction?
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid!”
Matthew 14:27
What a Friend,
and a Helper,
is Jesus!
Never, no never, does He leave His suffering
child to travel that mournful night unvisited
and unsoothed by His presence.
Jesus is with you now.
His faithfulness never falters.
And His love never changes.
His tenderness never lessens.
And His patience never wearies.
His grace never decays.
And His watchfulness never slumbers.
Jesus loves to visit us in the stormy night of
our grief. He says, “It is I. Don’t be afraid!“
The incarnate God delights to be near His
helpless and timid children. He is near to
you as the strength of your sinking soul.
“And surely I am with you always, even to
the very end of the world.” Matthew 28:20
Because His faithfulness never falters!

(Henry Law, “Psalms”)
“Even if my father and mother abandon me,
the Lord will hold me close.” Psalm 27:10
Earthly relationships are easily dissolved.
Affection may decay.
Fickleness begets estrangement.
Distance may part.
Death comes, and desolation sits
where happy fellowship once reigned.
But God’s love is strong, immutable, and
eternal. His heart beats with tenderness,
and is incapable of diminution or of change.
