“For the Lord Almighty has purposed–and who can thwart Him?
Because His hand is stretched out–and who can turn it back?” Isaiah 14:27

To say that God is sovereign, is to declare that He is the Almighty, the Possessor of all power in Heaven and earth–so that none can . . .
defeat His counsels,
thwart His purpose,
or resist His will.

Whatever takes place in time–is but the outworking of that which He has decreed in eternity.

Because The sovereignty of the God of Scripture, is . . .God is Sovereign
absolute,
irresistible
and infinite!

Therefore We insist that God does . . .
as He pleases,
only as He pleases,
always as He pleases!

“But our God is in the heavens–He has done whatever He has pleased!” Psalm 115:3

Because “The Lord does whatever pleases Him, in the Heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths!” Psalm 135:6

Therefore “All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as He pleases with the powers of Heaven and the peoples of the earth. Because No one can hold back His hand or say to Him: What have you done?” Daniel 4:35

God’s holiness is manifested at the Cross.

Wondrously and yet most solemnly, does the Atonement display God’s infinite holiness and abhorrence of sin. How hateful must sin be to God, for Him to punish it to its utmost deserts when it was imputed to His Son!

Therefore “You hate all workers of iniquity!” Psalm 5:5

The god which the vast majority of professing Christians ‘love’ is looked upon very much like an indulgent old man, who Himself has no relish for folly, but leniently winks at sin. Yet for one sin . . .
the fallen angels were thrown out of Heaven,
our first parents were banished from Eden,
Moses was excluded from the promised land,
Elisha’s servant smitten with leprosy, and
Ananias and Sapphira were cut off from the land of the living.

But men refuse to believe in this God, and gnash their teeth when His hatred of sin is faithfully pressed upon their attention.

Sinful man was no more likely to devise a holy God, than to create the Lake of Fire in which he will be tormented forever and ever!

Because “God is angry with the wicked every day!” Psalm 7:11

Therefore “Our God is a consuming fire!” Hebrews 12:29
